About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Chief Mine Geologist to lead their geological team for a significant mining operation located in the Free State province, near Bloemfontein . This senior leadership role is responsible for the overall geological strategy, resource estimation, and exploration programs that underpin the mine's long-term success and sustainability. You will guide a team of geologists and technicians, ensuring the accurate characterization and management of the ore body, and providing critical geological insights to executive management.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all geological activities, including resource definition, exploration, and geological modeling for the mine.
• Lead the geological team, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance management.
• Develop and implement robust geological models and resource estimation processes adhering to international standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Plan and manage in‑mine exploration and grade control drilling programs.
• Liaise with mine planning, operations, and processing departments to ensure optimal resource utilization.
• Review and approve geological reports, technical studies, and resource statements.
• Stay abreast of new geological technologies and methodologies relevant to mining.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in EconomicGeology or a related field.
• A minimum of15 years of progressive experience in mining geology, with at least5 years in a senior leadership or chief geologist role.
