Placements24 seeks a Chief Metallurgist to lead precious metals processing initiatives remotely. The role demands expertise in hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy, with a focus on innovation, recovery optimization, and technology-driven outcomes across gold, silver, and other precious metals.

You will set the metallurgical strategy, oversee complex process improvements, and mentor a team of metallurgists and technicians, influencing metallurgical results from a remote position.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in Metallurgy or related field.
• At least 15 years in metallurgical processing with precious metals experience.
• Expertise in hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy.
• Proven track record in large-scale plant design and optimization.
• Experience with statistical analysis and R&D project management.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the metallurgical strategy for precious metal recovery with focus on yield and efficiency.
• Oversee design, implementation and optimization of metallurgical processes (leaching, refining, smelting).
• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to metallurgical teams and site operations.
• Analyze process data to identify improvements, cost reductions, and innovations.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Lead R&D projects exploring new metallurgical techniques and improvements.
