Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Remote Chief Metallurgist to lead metallurgical research, development, and operational support from a fully remote capacity. The role focuses on optimizing mineral processing, improving recovery rates, and ensuring cost-effective extraction of valuable minerals across multiple mining sites.

You will guide process design, troubleshoot remotely, and implement new technologies while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in extractive metallurgy with a track record in base or precious metals processing.
• Proven leadership and remote team management capabilities.
• Experience with comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining processes.
• Experience with process modeling and simulation software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize metallurgical processes for various commodities, focusing on increasing recovery and reducing costs.
• Develop and implement new metallurgical strategies and technologies to improve plant performance.
• Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for metallurgical plant operations remotely.
• Conduct laboratory test work and pilot plant trials to evaluate process improvements and new methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards in all metallurgical operations.
• Mentor and guide junior metallurgists and process engineers across different sites.
