You will manage a skilled team, review technical designs, and coordinate with clients and regulators to drive innovation and efficiency within our energy sector operations in the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a significant portion in energy.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing complex technical projects.

About the Role

About the Role Our client, a major player in the energy sector and industrial development, is seeking a highly accomplished Chief Electrical Engineer to lead their electrical engineering department based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This senior leadership position is responsible for providing strategic direction and technical oversight for all electrical engineering aspects of the company's projects and operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in electrical systems design, power distribution, grid integration, and renewable energy technologies. You will lead a team of skilled engineers, ensure the highest standards of technical quality, safety, and compliance, and play a critical role in driving innovation and efficiency across the organization. This is a key role within our growing energy business in the Western Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for all electrical engineering activities.
• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical systems for energy projects.
• Ensure compliance with national and international electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Manage and mentor the electrical engineering team, fostering professional growth and high performance.
• Review and approve electrical designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with project management, operations, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Develop and manage the electrical engineering budget and resource allocation.
• Stay abreast of emerging electrical engineering technologies and best practices, recommending adoption where appropriate.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide expert technical support.
• Represent the company in technical discussions with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a significant portion in the energy sector (power generation, transmission, distribution, or renewables).
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex technical projects.
• In-depth knowledge of power systems, high-voltage equipment, protection systems, and control systems.
• Expertise in electrical design software and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of grid integration requirements and renewable energy technologies.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working in the Stellenbosch, Western Cape region is an advantage.
