Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer for a fully remote role with flexibility to work from anywhere, while contributing to projects relevant to Bloemfontein, Free State, ZA and beyond.

You will translate laboratory innovations into viable manufacturing processes, emphasizing environmental responsibility and circular economy principles, collaborating with global teams to scale up pilot processes.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field is required.
• Minimum of 4 years in chemical process development, scale-up, or manufacturing.
• Interest in sustainable materials, green chemistry, or bioprocessing helps.
• Process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills for remote work.
• Effective communication and collaboration in a remote team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize chemical processes for novel sustainable materials.
• Design and run pilot-scale experiments to validate parameters and collect data.
• Perform mass and energy balances, P&IDs, and equipment sizing for new processes.
