Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dynamic Chemical Process Engineer to join their R&D team in Durban. You will design, simulate, troubleshoot, and implement process improvements for pilot-scale and commercial production, focusing on efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

You will collaborate with R&D chemists, plant operators, and equipment engineers to drive scale-up, develop SOPs, monitor key process parameters, and ensure product quality and consistency in a forward-thinking industrial

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in chemical process design, scale-up, and optimization.
• Strong understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and separation processes.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
• Experience with HAZOP studies and process safety management (PSM) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for pilot-scale and commercial production, focusing on efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct process simulations and modeling using industry-standard software to predict performance and identify potential issues.
• Troubleshoot existing chemical processes, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions and improvements.
• Develop SOPs and process documentation for new and existing operations.
• Collaborate with R&D chemists, plant operators, and equipment engineers to ensure successful process scale-up and implementation.
• Monitor key process parameters and implement control strategies to maintain product quality and consistency in Durban.
