Placements24 seeks a diligent Chemical Engineer specializing in Process Safety to join our Stellenbosch team. You will develop, implement, and manage process safety programs to ensure the highest levels of safety across all operations.

You will conduct safety assessments, analyze risks, and implement mitigation strategies to prevent incidents and ensure regulatory compliance. This role supports maintaining a safe working environment and operational integrity within the Western Cape,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years in process safety, risk assessment and hazard analysis.
• Knowledge of PSM standards (OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
• Experience with HAZOP, LOPA and SIL methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct PHAs including HAZOP, What-If and FMEA studies.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies and SIS/LOPA implementations.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Provide training on process safety principles to engineers/operators.
• Monitor regulatory standards and drive continuous safety improvements.

Our client is seeking a diligent Chemical Engineer specializing in Process Safety to join their dedicated team in Stellenbosch . In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing process safety programs to ensure the highest levels of safety across all operations. You will conduct safety assessments, analyze risks, and implement mitigation strategies to prevent incidents and ensure regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies, to identify and evaluate potential risks.
• Develop and manage risk mitigation strategies, including safety instrumented systems (SIS) and layers of protection analysis (LOPA).
• Investigate process safety incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical expertise and training on process safety principles and practices to engineers and operators.
• Stay current with relevant safety regulations and industry standards, ensuring continuous improvement in safety performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety, risk assessment, and hazard analysis within the chemical or related industries.
• In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
• Experience with risk assessment methodologies such as HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL determination.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes, equipment, and their associated hazards.
