Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a proactive Chemical Engineer to drive process development and scale-up from lab to pilot and commercial production in Tembisa. You will collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to ensure robust, reproducible processes.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelors or Masters in Chemical Engineering with 3–5 years' experience in process development or manufacturing support, hands-on pilot plant exposure, and proficiency in process simulation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience in process development, scale-up or manufacturing support.
• Hands-on pilot plant operations experience and ability to troubleshoot processes.
• Proficiency with process simulation and modeling tools; understanding GMP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments for process development and optimization at bench and pilot scales.
• Develop PFDs and P&IDs for new and existing processes.
• Perform process scale-up calculations and transfer technology to manufacturing.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Chemical Engineer to focus on process development and scale-up activities in Tembisa . You will play a crucial role in taking laboratory-scale innovations through to pilot and commercial-scale production, ensuring robustness and efficiency. This role requires a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles, hands-on experience with scale-up challenges, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reproducible processes. You will work closely with research scientists and manufacturing teams to bridge the gap between R&D and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments for process development and optimization at bench and pilot scales.
• Develop detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs for new and existing processes.
• Perform process scale-up calculations and ensure successful technology transfer to manufacturing.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges encountered during process scale-up and validation.
• Collaborate with safety and environmental teams to ensure all processes meet regulatory standards.
• Contribute to the design and commissioning of new plant equipment and facilities.
