Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Process Development Engineer for its Benoni-based R&D team. The role focuses on translating laboratory discoveries into viable, scalable industrial processes, spanning from bench to pilot and full-scale production.

You will collaborate with R&D scientists and manufacturing teams, design experiments, assess feasibility and safety, and document process data, while driving innovation in chemical technologies within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or R&D in the chemical industry.
• Experience with pilot plant operations and process scale-up methodologies.
• Proficiency in process modeling and simulation tools is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering and separation processes.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize new chemical processes from laboratory bench scale through to pilot and commercial scale.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new process technologies.
• Design and execute experiments to gather critical process data and define operating parameters.
• Collaborate with equipment vendors and engineering teams on the design and procurement of process equipment.
• Ensure all developed processes meet stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including process descriptions, P&IDs, and operating manuals.
