Job summary

Wild Dreams Hospitality in Limpopo is seeking a hands-on junior chef to grow in an intimate bush kitchen. You will work with senior chefs, preparing fresh, seasonal dishes for a small number of discerning guests, and you will be comfortable living and working in a remote setting.

Applicants should have commis or junior CDP experience, a formal culinary qualification, good hygiene standards, and the ability to follow recipes and plating guidelines.

Qualifications

• Commis or junior CDP level experience in a lodge or upmarket restaurant.
• Formal culinary qualification or equivalent practical training.
• Sound knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety standards.
• Solid grounding in core cooking techniques and food preparation.
• Ability to follow recipes, plating standards, and instructions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes to the required standard under the guidance of the senior chefs.
• Assist with daily mise en place across all sections.
• Support breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bush meal service as rostered.
• Maintain consistent portioning, presentation, and plating standards.
• Assist with receiving deliveries, stock rotation, and stock takes.
• Keep workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean and organised.
• Follow all hygiene, health, and food safety procedures.
• Report equipment issues and stock shortages to the senior chefs.
• Step in across sections and help with staff meals where needed.

Core Criteria

• Previous kitchen experience at commis or junior CDP level, ideally in a lodge or upmarket restaurant
• Formal culinary qualification or equivalent practical training
• Sound knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety standards
• Solid grounding in core cooking techniques and food preparation
• Ability to follow recipes, plating standards, and instructions accurately
• Willingness to learn, take feedback, and develop within a small brigade
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well under pressure
• Comfortable with the live-in routine of a remote bush environment
