Job summary

Clicks Group Limited in Cape Town seeks a Category Manager for Colour Cosmetics to join the Beauty Division at Head Office. You will develop and execute category strategies to drive market share, profitability, and private label initiatives, reporting to the Portfolio Manager.

The role requires 4–6 years in category management and 2–3 years people management, with strong supplier negotiation, budgeting, and cross-functional collaboration with marketing and Clubcard to deliver the operating plan.

Qualifications

• B Degree or Diploma in Retail, Purchasing Management or similar (Essential)
• Strong procurement and category management knowledge
• Experience in vendor negotiations and co-op terms
• Experience with local/global supplier networks

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category plans to reduce cost of goods, optimise terms and increase income
• Negotiate favorable trading terms and promotional spend with vendors
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and source new partners
• Implement pricing and promotion plans to achieve sales targets
• Translate operating and financial plans into balanced product assortment and on-shelf displays
• Support private label and exclusive brands development for differentiation
• Regularly review performance indicators: sales, margin and promos
• Conduct range reviews and analyse consumer trends and competitor activity
• Collaborate with marketing and Clubcard to deliver operating plan
• Support Merchandise and Graduate Development Programme with procurement training
