Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a motivated Litigation Associate to bolster its Cape Town legal team. You will manage a diverse civil and commercial caseload from inception through resolution, conduct in-depth legal research, draft pleadings, and appear in various courts, contributing to successful outcomes.

You will work closely with experienced partners, collaborate on complex matters, and provide strategic advice to clients while upholding a culture of excellence and client service in a busy practice.

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney with at least 3 years of post-admission litigation experience.
• Experience drafting court documents and conducting legal research.
• Proficiency in relevant court rules and procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a demanding caseload and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage all stages of litigation, including initiating claims, drafting pleadings, and filing court documents.
• Conduct thorough legal research, prepare legal memorandums, and develop case strategies.
• Manage discovery processes, including document review, interrogatories, and depositions.
• Represent clients in court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
• Liaise directly with clients, keeping them informed of case progress and providing strategic advice.
• Collaborate with senior lawyers on complex litigation matters and case preparation.
