Job summary

ENS in Cape Town seeks an Associate in the Employment department. You will work closely with clients, manage matters, and develop litigation and drafting skills in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate is an attorney admitted in SA, with 1–2 years post articles in employment law, and strong written/spoken communication. A willingness to travel and excellent problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Attorneys admitted to practise in South Africa with a strong academic record.
• 1–2 years post articles experience in employment law.
• Knowledge of collective and individual employment law and civil litigation procedures.
• Willingness to travel for periods of time.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently and under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Drafting pleadings, affidavits, agreements and general correspondence.
• Researching law and providing legal opinions.
• Consultations with clients and counsel.
• Appearances at Labour Court and CCMA.
• Managing aspects of proceedings, evidence and witness consultations.
• Practice management including file management and fee recovery.
• Liaising with opposing attorneys and maintaining client relationships.
