Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in aviation safety, compliance, or regulatory oversight.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations and standards (SACAA, ICAO).
• Proven experience in conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools.
• Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Cape Town and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of aviation facilities, aircraft, and operational procedures.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and safety concerns, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and implement safety management systems (SMS) and risk management frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with national and international aviation safety regulations (SACAA, ICAO standards).
• Provide training and guidance to operational staff on safety protocols and best practices.
• Review and approve safety-related documentation, including manuals and procedures.
• Monitor safety performance indicators and prepare comprehensive reports for senior management.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization and its partners.
• Stay abreast of evolving aviation safety standards and technologies.
