Job summary

Nelson Mandela University is seeking a Cleaning Assistant to provide cleaning services across academic and support areas, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for the university community.

The role covers cleaning of corridors, offices, classrooms, residences, kitchens and outdoor spaces, with emphasis on health, safety, and accurate handling of cleaning materials. Preference given to designated groups in line with equity targets.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning procedures and equipment.
• Ability to follow cleaning chemicals guidance.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain university buildings, corridors and public/outdoor spaces.
• Perform general and deep cleaning of floors, surfaces, and ablution facilities.
• Clean offices, classrooms, residences, libraries, labs and kitchens.
• Ensure deep cleaning of outdoor areas and maintenance of hygiene standards.
• Handle cleaning consumables and equipment responsibly.
