Job summary

Premier FMCG (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Senior Buyer to optimise the supply chain through strategic procurement. You will partner with suppliers and internal teams to ensure cost-effective, timely, high-quality product availability across FMCG divisions.

The role requires 5–7 years in FMCG procurement, strong supplier management and contract negotiation skills, and a B. Com in procurement-related field. On-site collaboration in Gauteng is expected.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years FMCG Senior Buyer experience.
• 5-7 years in supplier relationships and contract negotiations.
• 5+ years analytical experience in FMCG.
• 5+ years in strategic sourcing and procurement of food ingredients in FMCG/manufacturing.
• 1-2 years product development project experience (Desirable).
• B. Com degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Cost Accounting (Essential).

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and manage supplier contracts for optimal collaboration, reliability and value delivery.
• Foster continuous improvement of supplier performance through ongoing management and monitoring per SLA terms.
• Ensure high-quality raw materials by collaborating with R&D to meet specifications and sourcing requirements.
• Solicit competitive tenders and lead price negotiations using open book costing to obtain favorable terms.
• Execute projects with cross-functional teams and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Adhere to procurement policies, BBBEE goals, regulatory standards, and Food Safety requirements.
• Support working capital by negotiating sustainable MOQs and pricing to deliver cost savings.

Job Purpose

To optimise the Premier Supply chain through the execution of strategic procurement processes in collaboration with our suppliers and internal customers to ensure cost-effective, timely, and high-quality product availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively negotiate and manage supplier contracts, ensuring optimal collaboration, reliability, and value delivery.
• Foster continuous improvement of supplier performance through ongoing management and monitoring in line with agreed SLA terms.
• Ensure high-quality raw materials by collaborating with Research and Development to ensure correct specifications and sourcing in line with agreed requirements.
• Solicit competitive tenders, lead negotiations for price increases using open book costing methodologies and ensure favourable terms.
• Effectively execute projects by fostering and maintaining good cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders, attending cross-functional Invocoms.
• Adhere to procurement and relevant policies, ensure alignment with BBBEE goals and regulatory standards, and adhere to all Food Safety requirements.
• Support healthy working capital by negotiating sustainable minimum order quantities and pricing, achieving cost savings, and optimising financial resources.

Experience and Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience as an FMCG Senior Buyer
• 5-7 years of experience in supplier relationships and negotiating contracts
• 5+ years of analytical experience, preferably in the FMCG sector
• 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing and procurement of food ingredients within an FMCG or manufacturing environment
• 1-2 years of product development project experience (Desirable)
• B. Com degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Cost Accounting (Essential)
