Job summary

Frogg Recruitment is seeking a motivated Buyer to join a Cape Town procurement team in Milnerton. You will manage purchasing of materials and services to support production, negotiate with suppliers, and oversee the PO cycle to ensure on-time delivery.

The role requires 3–5 years in procurement, experience with BOMs/ERP/MRP, and strong Excel skills. Local and international supplier relationships are a key focus, with emphasis on cost, quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Supply Chain/Procurement is advantageous.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a Buyer/Procurement role.
• Experience in manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience managing local and international suppliers.
• Strong commercial negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Understanding of procurement planning, inventory and production schedules.
• Experience with BOMs and ERP/MRP systems.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
• Sage X3 or similar ERP/MRP experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Drive the purchasing of raw materials, components, equipment and services to meet production demands.
• Identify and assess suppliers locally and abroad, balancing price, quality and delivery reliability.
• Lead supplier negotiations on pricing, payment terms, lead times and other terms.
• Oversee the full purchase order cycle from placement to receipt of goods.
• Monitor open orders and flag potential supply gaps to protect production continuity.
• Assess BOMs, stock levels, production plans and supplier lead times to decide what to order when.
• Track and evaluate supplier performance on cost, quality, lead times and delivery reliability.
• Build lasting supplier partnerships while pursuing cost-saving opportunities.
• Anticipate supply chain risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Ensure incoming materials meet specifications and project needs.
• Keep procurement records accurate in the ERP system and present purchasing and spend reports to management.

Buyer (Procurement) position available in Cape Town.

Our client is looking for a highly motivated Buyer to join their procurement team in Milnerton, Cape Town.

This is a key role within their manufacturing operation, responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components and services required to support the production programme.

The successful candidate will have strong commercial and negotiation skills, and will excel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Salary: R25 000 – R35 000 per month.

Minimum Requirements

• Assess BOMs, stock levels, production plans and supplier lead times to determine what needs to be ordered and when
• Track and evaluate supplier performance across cost, quality, lead times and delivery reliability
• Build lasting supplier partnerships while pursuing cost-saving and supplier development opportunities
• Anticipate supply chain risks and put practical mitigation measures in place
• Confirm that incoming materials meet the required specifications, quality standards and project needs
• Keep procurement records accurate and up to date, ensuring all purchasing data is correctly captured in the ERP system
• Compile and present purchasing, spend and supplier performance reports to management
