Job summary

AECOM South Africa is seeking bridge engineers to deliver local and international bridge projects. You will design and plan bridges and culverts, supervise construction drawings, and prepare project specifications in line with TMH7 and related codes.

You will work with a global team, contributing to inspections, design reviews, and quality management. The role supports a hybrid work model with opportunities to work on diverse infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years' experience (including appropriate site experience).
• Experience in the design of bridges and other civil structures.
• Experience in the inspection of bridges and culverts.
• Experience with international regulations and standards (AASTHO; AREMA, Aus-Codes; BS, etc.) will be a benefit
• Proficiency in structural design software (Midas, Sofistik, RM Bridge, CSiBridge) will be a benefit

Responsibilities

• Design and planning of new bridges, culverts, and other road and rail structures in accordance with TMH7 and other relevant codes
• Rehabilitation and upgrading design of existing bridges and drainage structures
• Oversee the preparation of construction drawings
• Preparation of project specifications and contract documentation
• Inspection of bridges and culverts in accordance with TMH19
• Applying the AECOM Quality Management System (QMS) in all work
• Preparation of design reports
