About the Role

Our client, a design-led studio renowned for its bespoke hospitality projects, is seeking a creative and highly skilled Boutique Hotel Design Specialist Architect for a contract role in Paarl, Western Cape . This position is ideal for an architect with a refined aesthetic and a proven ability to design unique, characterful, and luxurious boutique hotel experiences. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing designs that capture the essence of the location and brand, creating memorable spaces for guests. The successful candidate will have a passion for detail, material innovation, and a strong understanding of the operational requirements of boutique accommodations. Key Responsibilities

Lead the design development of exclusive boutique hotel projects from concept to final design documentation. Create unique architectural narratives and conceptual designs that reflect brand identity and local context. Develop high-quality visualisations, including renders, mood boards, and material samples. Collaborate with clients, interior designers, and specialist consultants to achieve a cohesive design vision. Ensure designs meet all functional, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements for boutique hospitality. Research and integrate innovative design solutions, materials, and technologies. Oversee the preparation of detailed architectural drawings and specifications for tender. Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, fire regulations, and accessibility standards. Manage design timelines and deliverables efficiently within the contract period. Maintain strong communication with all project stakeholders.

Requirements

Master's degree in Architecture or equivalent professional qualification. Minimum of 7 years of experience, with a strong specialization in boutique hotel design or high-end hospitality interiors. A compelling portfolio showcasing innovative and successful boutique hotel projects. Expertise in architectural design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, V-Ray, Lumion). Strong understanding of interior design principles, luxury finishes, and FF&E specification. Creative flair with an exceptional eye for detail, form, and materiality. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously and deliver high-quality results within contract deadlines. Experience in project coordination and documentation for high-end builds. SACAP registration is advantageous.
