Job summary

P&L in Soweto is seeking a Board Cutting and Edging Supervisor to monitor cutting and edging operations, ensure quality, and coordinate workers to meet customer specifications while minimising losses. You will oversee maintenance on all machinery and support smooth production in a busy shop.

The role requires Grade 12 (NQF 4), carpentry or supervisory experience, and willingness to work shifts, weekends and holidays. Strong problem solving and basic calculation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF 4) is required.
• Carpentry experience would be advantageous.
• 2 years supervisory experience would be advantageous.
• 1 year with cutting/edging machinery would be advantageous.
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Must be able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cutting and edging operations to minimise wastage.
• Ensure accurate interpretation of cutting lists and calibration of machines.
• Perform daily cleaning and preventative maintenance on machinery.
• Coordinate scheduling to provide effective customer service.
• Maintain OHSA safety compliance within area of responsibility.
• Be vigilant for loss prevention and report suspicious activity.
