Job summary

Cashbuild is seeking a Board Cutting and Edging Supervisor to oversee cutting and edging operations, ensuring quality and smooth workflow. You will supervise workers, coordinate activities to meet customer specs and minimise losses, and oversee maintenance on all machinery.

The role requires carpentry exposure, supervisory experience, and readiness to work shifts, with strong focus on accuracy and safety in a busy retail-fuelled environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications.
• 2 years of carpentry experience would be advantageous.
• 2 years managerial or supervisory experience would be advantageous.
• 1 year experience with cutting and edging machinery would be advantageous.
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
• Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Minimise wastage by accurate calibration of machines according to cutting lists.
• Interpret cutting lists accurately to minimise wastage and customer complaints.
• Perform daily cleaning and preventive maintenance on machinery.
• Plan and implement effective staff scheduling to provide exceptional customer service.
• Advise customers correctly on products and assist with queries and complaints.
• Be available in area of responsibility and assist in other departments as needed.
• Ensure area is neat, safe, and stock is merchandised upon receipt.
• Ensure OHSA safety compliance and machinery safety standards.

Description:

Board Cutting and Edging Supervisor is responsible for monitoring cutting & edging operations, quality and smooth running of cutting & edging processes. He/she needs to supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in cutting& edging fabric as per customer specifications so to minimise losses to the company. Responsible for the maintenance on all machinery.

Requirement:

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications.
• 2 years carpentry experience would be advantageous
• 2 years managerial or supervisory experience would be advantageous
• 1 year experience working with cutting and edging machinery would be advantageous
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
• Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills
• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays.
• Must be able to work under pressure.

Key Performance Area:

Description

• Minimise wastage and customer complaints through accurate calibration of machines according to cutting list

• Ensure effective Employee scheduling planned and implemented to provide exceptional Customer service.
• Advise Customers correctly on product.
