Placements24 is seeking a Blockchain Data Engineer in Pretoria to design, build, and maintain data pipelines that ingest data from blockchain networks such as Ethereum, Bitcoin and Solana. The role supports analytics by delivering reliable datasets and scalable architectures.

You will work with data scientists and software engineers, use Python/Java/Scala, SQL and big data tools, and contribute to data quality, governance, and performance improvements. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
• 3+ years in data engineering, data warehousing, or ETL development.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Strong SQL and database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL).
• Experience with Spark, Hadoop and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with blockchain technology and data structures.
• Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines that extract, transform, and load data from various blockchain networks. You will play a key part in ensuring the quality, reliability, and accessibility of our extensive blockchain datasets, which are used to power advanced analytics and insights for our clients. Key Responsibilities
