Job summary

De Beers Group is seeking a Miner responsible for delegated blasting tasks to secure floor stock and safe blasting operations in Kathu, Northern Cape. You will monitor crew performance, manage pit activities, and ensure blasting activities comply with Mine Health & Safety regulations.

The role involves executing blasting plans, maintaining a safe work environment, and contributing to continuous improvement within the mining team, reporting to the Blasting/Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/N3 technical qualification is required.
• Opencast blasting certificate is required.
• Legal Liability certificate preferred.
• Hazchem certificate preferred.
• Competency A preferred.
• SA Driver's Licence Code B (Light Vehicle) required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to health and safety practices and requirements.
• Maintain housekeeping to ensure compliance and a controlled risk environment.
• Measure drilled holes and charge blasting holes as per plan.
• Inspect blasting area after operations for misfires and unsafe conditions.
• Destroy surplus and damaged explosives per Mine Health & Safety Act.
• Compile and forward blasting reports to the supervisor on time.
• Deploy and plan tasks for subordinates to ensure smooth production operations.
• Keep the environment clean and perform cleaning beyond allocated area.
