Job summary

Placements24 has a vacancy for a Biomass Energy Specialist to join its renewable energy team in East London. You will oversee the development, implementation and optimization of biomass-based projects, assess resources and design conversion technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability.

The role requires a Master’s degree and at least five years in biomass energy, strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, and a commitment to regulatory compliance and environmental

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental), Agricultural Science, or related field with a focus on bioenergy.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the biomass energy sector, including project development and operational aspects.
• Strong knowledge of biomass feedstock characterization, pre-treatment, and conversion processes.
• Experience with biomass technologies such as boilers, gasifiers, anaerobic digesters, and CHP systems.
• Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability certification for bioenergy projects.
• Excellent project management, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess sustainable biomass resources suitable for energy generation projects.
• Design and evaluate biomass conversion technologies, including combustion, gasification, and anaerobic digestion systems.
• Develop project proposals, feasibility studies, and business cases for biomass energy projects.
• Manage the procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of biomass power plants and facilities.
• Optimize the operational performance of biomass energy systems, focusing on efficiency and environmental compliance.
• Build and maintain relationships with biomass suppliers, technology providers, and project stakeholders.
