Job summary

AECOM is seeking a BIM Modeller in Durban to perform structured modelling tasks within a disciplined engineering environment. You will work with Revit (Buildings) and other BIM tools to create discipline-specific content with limited supervision.

You will engage with engineers and contractors, follow standard procedures, and grow your task complexity over time as you apply BIM principles and maintain project standards.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering environment.
• Intermediate user of Autodesk Revit (Buildings) capable of creating discipline content with limited supervision.
• Intermediate user of other core discipline software.

Responsibilities

• Intermediate user of core discipline-specific software.
• Good understanding of modelling in Revit and other BIM platforms.
• Appreciate and apply BIM modelling principles.
• Maintain a disciplined engineering approach.
• General knowledge of local standards and codes.
• Operate effectively within a disciplined engineering environment.
• Use Revit, clash detection software, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Use Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Word.
• Communicate effectively and interface with other engineering disciplines, clients, and contractors.
• Work independently with routine/repeated tasks.
• Receive guidance with limited discretion to deviate from established procedures.
• Perform routine, structured work assignments and expand task complexity over time.
• Follow standard operating procedures and methodologies to solve routine or standard problems.
• Identify problems in existing procedures and propose improvements.
• Maintain general proficiency with tools, systems, and procedures required for the role.
• If needed, seek continued support on technical issues.
• Apply experience and skills to complete assigned tasks within the area of expertise.

We are seeking a BIM Modeller who performs routine, structured work in a required discipline and demonstrates the ability to take on more complex tasks. The role requires an intermediate user of Autodesk Revit (Buildings) or similar, capable of drawing/modeling with limited supervision and creating content within a specific discipline.
