Job summary

The Foschini Group is offering a YES Intern position in Business Intelligence (Maths/Stats) to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic IT team in Cape Town. You will assist in gathering reporting requirements, querying data with SQL, documenting source-to-target mappings, and supporting dashboard creation and data model testing.

Ideal candidates are passionate about data, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a retail environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or related fields.
• Theoretical experience in data extraction, harmonization, and structuring.
• Experience using data visualization tools (PowerBI preferred).
• Knowledge of SQL for data analysis.
• Advanced MS Office skills.
• Knowledge of Dimensional Modelling and Data Warehousing.

Responsibilities

• Gathering and documenting reporting requirements for business areas.
• Investigating data sources and querying using SQL.
• Documenting functional requirements and source-to-target mappings.
• Providing recommendations on data presentation.
• Supporting user training and data model testing.
• Creating test cases and test plans.
• Ensuring solutions meet business needs.
• Developing reports and dashboards.
• Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
• Keeping up with the latest data tools and methodologies.
