Job summary

The Foschini Group in Cape Town invites a Data Governance & Data Quality Analyst Intern to support the analytics team. You will help develop and implement operational metrics, dashboards and reports across multiple data sources.

You'll gain hands-on experience with visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau and QlikView, build data models, and contribute to predictive analytics while learning data warehousing concepts and data wrangling techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.
• Storytelling through visual presentations and dashboards.
• Ability to create data models to unify disparate datasets for analysis.
• Ability to analyze large datasets.
• Excellent communication of complex concepts to staff and executives.
• Familiarity with data warehousing and analytics processes.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
• Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView or Pyramid.
• Data wrangling with SQL and NoSQL; KNIME or SSIS is a plus.
• Experience with prescriptive/predictive analytics; R and Python are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist business teams with development and implementation of operational metrics, dashboards, and reporting.
• Use visualization tools to create interactive visualizations from complex data.
• Provide ad-hoc reporting for non-standard issues and analyses.
• Evaluate and implement new data-analysis methods to inform business performance.
• Analyze historical figures to identify trends and inform strategy.
• Develop and work with prediction models.
• Extract, transform and load data from diverse sources into staging datasets and visualization tools.
