Job summary

CFAO is seeking a Battery Technician M/F in Pinetown, South Africa. The role involves assembling and repairing Lithium Ion and Lead Acid batteries and chargers to industry standards, both on site and in the workshop. You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and ensure timely delivery of batteries and chargers.

The candidate should have a Diploma and 4-6 years’ experience, with hands-on skills in battery layouts, polarity, acid adjustments, and maintaining a tidy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent required.
• 4-6 years of experience in related field.
• Experience with Lithium Ion and Lead Acid batteries.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment and communicate required repairs to customer or supervisor.
• Carry out repairs on customers' site or in workshop.
• Build and assemble batteries with correct layout and polarity.
• Prepare packs by cutting and using packing materials to stabilise cells.
• Place cells correctly in tanks according to model; perform acid adjustments when required.
• Build batteries within the specified time frame and maintain a clean workshop.
• Deliver batteries and chargers as needed.

Mission description

The purpose of this position is to assemble and repair Lithium Ion & Lead Acid batteries and chargers in a cost-efficient manner by using the correct equipment, to the required industry and safety standards and assist with other duties.

Profile

To perform this job successfully, the appointed individual must be able to perform each essential duty / key performance area satisfactorily. This list of key performance areas is not exhaustive and may be changed / supplemented to accommodate business needs from time to time:

• Perform accurate diagnosis / troubleshooting / repairs, in event of breakdown of equipment; communicate whatrepairs are needed by advising the customer and/or supervisor.
• Repairs on customers site / or Workshop
• Build new batteries with correct layout and polarity.
• Cut and use packing correctly to stabilize cells in tank.
• Place the correct cells in the correct tank according to machine model.
• Paint, clean and mark steel tanks as and when necessary.
• Need to do acid adjustments as and when required.
• Build batteries in specified time frame.
• Keep the workshop clean and tidy.
• Deliver batteries and chargers.
