Ingenious Holdings Pty Ltd in Cape Town is seeking a skilled Battery Technician to join a technical team. You will assemble, service and repair lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries and chargers, ensuring safety and quality.

This role requires hands-on fault finding, on-site and workshop work, and the ability to follow OHSACT and company procedures while keeping accurate battery reports.

Qualifications

  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 years' experience with Lithium batteries and electrical components.
  • Electrician or Electronics Technician with lithium-ion and lead-acid battery experience.
  • General knowledge of battery and charger electrical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding ability.
  • Ability to work independently and in a technical team.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and build new batteries according to layout and machine specifications.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair batteries and chargers.
  • Perform repairs at customer sites and in the workshop.
  • Strip, rebuild and service Lithium-Ion and Lead-Acid batteries and chargers.
  • Test and fault-find batteries using a multimeter.
  • Replace faulty accessories and components where required.
  • Perform acid adjustments when required.
  • Complete quality checks following battery assembly and repairs.
  • Read and respond to battery reports.
  • Ensure batteries and chargers are safe and fit for operation.
  • Deliver batteries and chargers when required. Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
  • Ensure compliance OHSACT requirements, safety procedures and company standards.
  • Keep technical knowledge and skills up to date.

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Battery Technician to join a technical team supporting battery and charging solutions within the material-handling environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries and chargers, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and in accordance with industry and safety standards.

Key Reponsibilities:
  • Assemble and build new batteries according to the correct layout, polarity, and machine specifications.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair batteries and chargers.
  • Perform repairs at customer sites and in the workshop.
  • Strip, rebuild and service Lithium-Ion and Lead-Acid batteries and chargers.
  • Test and fault-find batteries using a multimeter.
  • Replace faulty accessories and components where required.
  • Perform acid adjustments when required.
  • Complete quality checks following battery assembly and repairs.
  • Read and respond appropriate to battery reports.
  • Ensure batteries and chargers are safe and fit for operation.

Minimum Requirements:
  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years' experience working with Lithium batteries and electrical components.
  • Qualified Electrician or Electronics Technician, with experience working with Lithium-Ion and Lead-Acid batteries and charging equipment.
  • General working knowledge of battery and charger electrical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding ability.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a technical team.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Code 8 or Code 10 driver's licence for field service work.
  • Valid forklift operator licence.
