Job summary

tashas is opening a new cafe in Fourways, Gauteng, and seeks a warm, energetic Barista to join the opening team. You will deliver exceptional coffee and beverages, creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest with genuine hospitality.

You will learn and apply our beverage and food knowledge, maintain high standards, and work with a strong team to ensure an outstanding tashas experience from day one.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Barista in a café, restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • Genuine passion for coffee, hospitality and guest experience.
  • Strong knowledge of espresso preparation and milk texturing techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve coffee, teas, juices and other beverages to high quality standards.
  • Follow recipes and presentation methods with precision.
  • Develop understanding of menus, ingredients, allergens and flavour profiles.
  • Answer guest questions and provide thoughtful recommendations.
  • Prioritise orders during busy service while maintaining quality.
  • Taste and quality-check beverages for consistency and excellence.
  • Monitor bean quality, grinder settings and calibrations for optimal flavour.
  • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders and brewing equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean, maintained and functioning.
  • Report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Refine coffee knowledge and skills to support beverage quality.
  • Prepare mise en place for smooth service.
  • Keep bar stations clean, stocked and organised.
  • Support inventory management and stock control.
  • Complete preparation schedules and daily tasks per brand standards.
  • Ensure ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house and kitchen teams.
  • Assist in onboarding and developing new team members.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Represent tashas values in every interaction.
  • Participate in daily briefings and team communication.
  • Maintain high standards of beverage preparation and presentation.
  • Ensure every beverage reflects quality, consistency and attention to detail.

About the Role

At tashas, hospitality is at the heart of everything we do.

As we prepare to open the doors to our newest tashas cafe in Fourways, we are looking for warm, energetic and passionate Barista to join our opening team.

Your Mission

You will deliver exceptional coffee and beverage experiences while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every guest.

Through technical skill, product knowledge and genuine hospitality, you will uphold the standards that define the tashas experience and contribute to a culture of excellence, teamwork and care.

What You\'ll Be Doing
Beverage Preparation & Service
  • Prepare and serve coffee, teas, juices and other beverages to the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  • Follow recipes, preparation methods and presentation standards with precision and care.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our beverage and food menus, including ingredients, allergens, flavour profiles and preparation methods.
  • Confidently answer guest questions and provide thoughtful recommendations.
  • Prioritise orders effectively during busy service periods while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Taste and quality-check beverages to ensure consistency and excellence.
Coffee Craft & Equipment
  • Monitor coffee bean quality, grinder settings and daily calibrations to ensure optimal extraction and flavour.
  • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders and brewing equipment to the highest standards.
  • Ensure all coffee equipment is clean, well-maintained and functioning correctly.
  • Report any maintenance requirements or equipment concerns promptly.
  • Continuously refine your coffee knowledge and skills to support exceptional beverage quality.
Operations & Organisation
  • Prepare and maintain mise en place for smooth and efficient service.
  • Ensure all bar stations, counters, equipment and service areas are fully stocked, clean and organised before, during and after service.
  • Support inventory management and stock control to minimise waste and maintain product availability.
  • Complete preparation schedules and daily operational tasks in line with brand standards.
  • Ensure ingredients are fresh, properly stored and used within their shelf life.
Teamwork & Culture
  • Work closely with front-of-house and kitchen teams to deliver a seamless guest experience.
  • Support the onboarding and development of new team members.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and respectful work environment.
  • Embody the values, culture and spirit of tashas in every interaction.
  • Participate actively in daily briefings and team communication.
Quality & Guest Experience
  • Maintain exceptional standards of beverage preparation and presentation.
  • Ensure every beverage reflects the quality, consistency and attention to detail our guests expect.

  • Handle food products, beverages and cleaning materials safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic work environment throughout every shift.
