Job summary

Pick n Pay is seeking a Bakery Manager in Pretoria to drive commercial performance, maintain high product quality, and lead a skilled bakery team. You will ensure excellent customer experience while managing production schedules, inventory, and safety standards.

The role focuses on delivering consistent quality, optimizing margin, and developing staff in a fast-paced bakery environment within a major South African retailer.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (essential).
• NQF 3 Bakery qualification is preferred.
• 2–4 years' experience as a Baker, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory/management role.
• Food safety and hygiene certification is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily bakery operations, including production schedules, staffing, and workflow management; ensure cleanliness and health and safety compliance.
• Monitor quality, recipe adherence, presentation, and freshness of bakery products; troubleshoot production issues.
• Staff management: train and develop a motivated team; manage shifts and coverage during peak times.
• Customer service: ensure excellent service and address customer feedback or complaints.
• Financial management: track budgets, costs, and profitability; monitor sales, margins, and waste.
• Compliance: enforce food safety standards and equipment maintenance.
