Job summary

Boardroom Appointments is seeking a senior IT portfolio lead to shape, plan and drive delivery, providing expert engineering skills and directing system capabilities, priorities and resources to ensure solutions are developed to high standards.

You will mature engineering practices across multiple teams (5–12) and manage a software quality, change and release process within a DEVOPS framework, guiding a broad technical staff to deliver reliable, scalable platforms.

Qualifications

• Post graduate degree in IT; information systems or related field preferred.
• 10+ years translating requirements into technical specs and leading agile development teams.
• Minimum 5-7 years as a manager running a portfolio of 20+ technical experts.
• Proficient in Java (8+), Spring Boot, Docker, Maven, ActiveMQ, SQL, OpenAPI, and AWS CodeCommit.
• Fluency in Java/PHP/Python or related languages; understanding of operating systems may be required.
• Experience with Agile Development, IT Applications, DevOps, and software refactoring.

Responsibilities

• Shape, plan and lead portfolio delivery with expert engineering input.
• Mature Engineering Practices (Software; Quality; Change & Release; DEVOPS) across Portfolio delivery teams (5-12 teams).
• Lead and manage resources: software, quality engineers, and technical system teams (50-80 resources).

Experience Required

• Track record in capability and competency building and coaching of staff is required.
• Minimum 5-7 years' experience as a manager running a portfolio of 20+ technical experts.
