Job summary

Syspro is seeking an SRE Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain a scalable cloud platform. You will apply SRE principles, automate workflows, and partner with dev teams to embed reliability in the software delivery lifecycle.

You will run on-call duties, implement robust monitoring, and continuously improve platform resilience across Kubernetes-based workloads in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification.
• Minimum 4–6 years in a platform engineering, DevOps, or site reliability role with hands-on Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud infra.
• Demonstrated ability to own and resolve production incidents independently.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, reliable platform infrastructure using SRE principles (SLOs, error budgets, reliability targets).
• Automate workflows with IaC and CI/CD configuration to accelerate deployment velocity.
• Monitor platform health with observability tools and drive root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain Kubernetes-based environments ensuring resource optimization, availability, and security.
• Leverage AI-assisted monitoring and AIOps to surface predictive insights and reduce MTTR.
• Collaborate with development teams and senior architects to embed reliability in design.
• Participate in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews to strengthen resilience.
• Contribute to capacity planning, disaster recovery, and runbooks.
