Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Aircraft Systems Technician (avionics) for the Gauteng region, with a focus on maintenance, repair and overhaul of complex avionic systems. The role combines on-site duties in Tembisa with potential remote support, and requires meticulous attention to safety and regulatory standards.

The candidate will work with modern avionics including FMS, GPS, ILS and TCAS, collaborating with engineers to resolve intricate issues and develop improved maintenance strategies.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification in Avionic Engineering or Electronics.
• Minimum 4 years' experience as Aircraft Avionics Technician.
• Strong knowledge of avionic systems (FMS, GPS, ILS, TCAS, autopilots).
• Ability to read and interpret complex schematics and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with aviation regulations and certification processes.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair avionic/electrical faults on aircraft.
• Install, test, and certify avionic equipment per specifications.
• Perform maintenance on communication, navigation, autopilot, and related systems.
• Interpret manuals, drawings, and wiring diagrams to perform tasks.
• Calibrate instruments and test equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.
• Document maintenance actions accurately in logbooks and systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to resolve issues.
• Stay updated on avionic technology and maintenance techniques.
• Assist in developing improved maintenance strategies for avionic systems.
