Job summary

TrustFlight is seeking a Technical Editor to join our Remote South Africa team on a freelance basis. You will develop and publish structured technical documentation for aviation safety, using MadCap Flare, MadCap Central, and Microsoft Word, with expert input from subject matter experts.

The role emphasises ownership, detail, and collaboration across international colleagues, with flexible hours and full remote work.

Qualifications

• Experience creating, editing or maintaining professional technical documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Structure, format, edit and publish complex technical and corporate documentation using Microsoft Word alongside MadCap Flare and MadCap Central.
• Create, maintain and update technical content based on information provided by subject matter experts and project stakeholders.
• Transform complex, technical or incomplete source information into clear, professional and well-structured documentation.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, compliant with company standards and delivered on schedule.
• Manage and edit large documentation sets, typically ranging from 200 to 800 pages.
• Collaborate with colleagues across multiple departments and geographic locations to gather information and validate content.
• Liaise with other functional areas of the business to ensure technical content remains accurate and up to date.
• Identify opportunities to improve documentation quality, efficiency, consistency and publishing processes.
• Support the development and implementation of new documentation standards, workflows and best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both customer outcomes and internal productivity.
