Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a significant operator within the aviation sector in Kimberley , is seeking a proactive and experienced Aviation Safety Manager . This pivotal role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety management system (SMS) to ensure the highest levels of safety across all operations. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization. This position is key to upholding aviation safety standards in the Northern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.


• Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits across all operational areas.


• Lead and coordinate investigations into aviation safety incidents, accidents, and occurrences, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.


• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff to promote a positive safety culture.


• Monitor safety performance indicators (SPIs) and key safety performance (KSP) metrics, reporting on trends and necessary improvements.


• Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and stakeholders on aviation safety matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or equivalent experience are highly valued.


• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in aviation safety management or operations, with a strong understanding of SMS principles.


• Proficiency in risk management methodologies, incident investigation techniques, and safety auditing.


• Excellent knowledge of national and international aviation regulations (e.g., ICAO standards, SA-CAA regulations).
