Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Aerodrome Operations Officer to join the team at the Benoni, Gauteng aerodrome. The role covers airside management, safety, and regulatory compliance to ensure efficient and safe operations on-site.

You will monitor day-to-day aerodrome activities, oversee runway and apron operations, conduct inspections, and coordinate with air traffic services, airlines, and emergency responders to maintain operational readiness.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or Airport Management is required.
• 3–5 years of airport or aerodrome operations experience.
• Knowledge of aerodrome design, operations and safety standards (e.g., ICAO Annex 14).
• Familiarity with airside safety procedures, risk assessment and emergency management.
• Ability to interpret and apply aviation regulations.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must work on-site at Benoni aerodrome in Gauteng, ZA.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage day-to-day aerodrome operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Oversee airside activities including runway/taxiway integrity and apron management.
• Conduct regular inspections and report defects for rectification.
• Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and standards (ICAO Annex 14, SACR).
• Develop and review aerodrome safety procedures and emergency plans.
• Coordinate with ATC, airlines and airport users to optimize traffic flow.
• Maintain aerodrome records and prepare reports.
• Serve as point of contact for stakeholders' operational queries.
