Placements24 is seeking a skilled Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain and repair the fleet of essential ground support vehicles in Vereeniging. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe operation of GSE such as baggage tractors, belt loaders, and pushback tugs.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on mechanic with strong diesel and electrical skills, able to read manuals, work under pressure, and uphold safety standards in a busy airport

Qualificações

• Proven mechanic with experience in heavy equipment or aviation ground support.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems and hydraulics.
• Able to read and interpret technical manuals and repair guides.
• Valid driver's license; experience operating heavy machinery is advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on all assigned Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on GSE using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Maintain accurate logs and records of all maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment status.
• Ensure all GSE meets safety standards and operational requirements before deployment.
• Respond to emergency repair calls to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
• Operate a variety of GSE safely during testing and maintenance procedures.

About the Role

This role is vital for ensuring the efficient and safe turnaround of aircraft, as well as the smooth operation of ground services. You will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of GSE, including baggage tractors, belt loaders, pushback tugs, and aircraft service vehicles. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on mechanic with experience in diesel and electrical systems, committed to keeping critical airport equipment operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on all assigned Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
