Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Aviation Dispatcher to join their operations team in Queenstown. You will plan flights, monitor weather, and coordinate with crews, maintenance and ground staff to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires knowledge of aviation weather, navigation and regulations, with strong communication and under-pressure decision-making. The successful candidate will contribute to accurate logs and adherence to EC region procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience as Aviation Dispatcher or in flight operations preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of aviation weather, navigation and flight planning principles.
• Understanding of aviation regulations governing flight operations in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file flight plans considering weather, air traffic, aircraft performance and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor flight progress, weather, and status; adjust as needed for safety and efficiency.
• Provide flight crews with weather briefings, NOTAMs and operational updates.
• Coordinate with maintenance on aircraft status and scheduling of repairs or checks.
• Maintain accurate flight logs and operational records in compliance with standards.

About the Role

This critical role ensures the safe and efficient planning and execution of flight operations. You will be responsible for flight planning, weather monitoring, operational control, and coordinating with flight crews, maintenance, and ground staff. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-pressure environment, possesses excellent communication skills, and has a deep understanding of aviation regulations and operational procedures relevant to the Eastern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and file flight plans, considering factors such as weather, air traffic, aircraft performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor flight progress, weather conditions, and operational status, making necessary adjustments to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Provide flight crews with essential information, including weather briefings, NOTAMs, and operational updates.
• Coordinate with maintenance personnel regarding aircraft status and scheduling of repairs or checks.
• Maintain accurate flight logs and operational records, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards in Queenstown .

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Aviation Dispatcher or in a flight operations role is highly preferred.

• Understanding of aviation regulations, particularly those governing flight operations in South Africa .
• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
