Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Automotive Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in Midrand, Gauteng. You will ensure seamless integration of ECUs and subsystems across infotainment, telematics, and vehicle controls in a hybrid on-site/remote role.

You'll develop system-level test plans, troubleshoot hardware-software interactions, and collaborate with hardware, software, and testing teams to validate performance and standards compliance in automotive environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in automotive systems integration, embedded systems development, or testing.
• Proficiency with CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and methodologies for automotive systems.
• Scripting languages (Python) for test automation.
• Strong understanding of hardware-software interaction and embedded systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and schematics.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, suitable for a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and validate ECUs and subsystems, ensuring compatibility and interoperability.
• Develop and execute system-level test plans and procedures for complex automotive architectures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues related to hardware, software, and communication protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, software, testing) throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Analyze test results, generate detailed reports, and provide recommendations for system improvements.
• Define system requirements and specifications based on product objectives and customer needs.
• Support the development and validation of embedded software within the automotive context.
• Stay current with automotive industry standards, technologies, and best practices for system integration.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of integration and testing methodologies.
