Placements24 is seeking an experienced Automotive Electrical Systems Specialist for a reputable service center in Gauteng. You will diagnose and repair complex electrical problems across various vehicle makes, using advanced diagnostic tools to ensure safety and performance.

This role requires reading wiring diagrams, CAN bus networks, ECUs and applying manufacturer guidelines. You will mentor technicians and maintain accurate service records.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Automotive Electrical Specialist.
• Strong knowledge of electrical theory and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and electrical testing equipment.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with CAN bus systems is desirable.
• ASE Electrical/Electronic Systems certification is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex automotive electrical problems across battery, starting, charging, lighting and accessory systems.
• Analyze wiring diagrams, service manuals and specifications to pinpoint faults.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify issues with ECUs and sensors.
• Repair/replace faulty electrical components like alternators, starters, sensors, relays, wiring harnesses.
• Install and troubleshoot aftermarket electrical accessories.
• Conduct comprehensive electrical system checks and preventative maintenance.
• Ensure repairs follow manufacturer guidelines and best practices.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Stay updated on automotive electrical technologies and techniques.

Requirements

• Proficiency with automotive diagnostic software and specialized electrical testing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with CAN bus systems and other modern vehicle network technologies is highly desirable.
