Placements24 is seeking an Automotive Electrical Systems Technician for our Soweto, Gauteng, ZA workshop. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain complex electrical and electronic vehicle systems across makes and models using advanced diagnostic equipment.

You will read wiring diagrams, perform battery testing, install aftermarket electronics, and program vehicle control modules while delivering high-quality service in a busy, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Automotive Electrician or Electrical Systems Technician.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair a wide range of automotive electrical issues, including starting and charging systems, lighting, accessories, and complex wiring harnesses.
• Utilize diagnostic scan tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other specialized equipment to troubleshoot electrical faults.
• Perform maintenance and repair on vehicle battery systems, including testing and replacement.
• Install and service aftermarket electronic accessories, such as audio systems, alarms, and GPS trackers.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Perform software updates and programming for vehicle control modules.
• Ensure all repairs are performed efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
• Maintain accurate records of all work performed, parts used, and time spent.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive electrical technologies and repair techniques.

• Experience with vehicle battery testing and maintenance.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Valid driver's license.
• Relevant automotive electrical certifications (e.g., ASE L1) are highly desirable.
