Job summary

SCallaghan Recruitment in Pretoria seeks an experienced Automation Technician to maintain and optimise automated production equipment and robotic systems in a well‑established manufacturing setting.

You will perform fault‑finding, diagnostics and repairs on ABB and KUKA robots, support installation and commissioning, and ensure quality and safety procedures are followed while contributing to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 6 qualification required.
• Qualified Electrician, Millwright, Mechatronics Technician, or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in automation/robotics/maintenance in manufacturing.
• Extensive hands-on experience with ABB and KUKA robotics systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on automated equipment and robotic systems.
• Fault-finding, diagnostics and repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and troubleshoot ABB and KUKA robotic systems.
• Support installation, commissioning and improvement projects.
• Complete maintenance records, job cards and related documentation accurately.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and operational procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance and engineering teams to resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on automated production equipment and robotic systems.
• Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics and repairs to minimise downtime and support production targets.
• Maintain and troubleshoot ABB and KUKA robotic systems.
• Support installation, commissioning and improvement projects.
• Complete maintenance records, job cards and related documentation accurately.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and operational procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Work closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.

Minimum Requirements
