Job summary

G-Core Capital in South Africa seeks an Automation Engineer to lead automation initiatives across automotive and manufacturing environments. You will analyze processes, design and implement automated systems, and ensure they meet quality and safety standards.

You will program advanced PLCs, work with robotics and electro-pneumatic systems, perform tests, document results, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimise performance and return on investment.

Qualifications

Mechatronics or electronic degree required and programming qualification preferred.
5 years of similar experience in automotive or manufacturing.
Technical training in robotics and programming.

Responsibilities

Analyze existing processes to identify opportunities for automation.
Design, develop and implement automated systems and processes.
Test and validate automation systems and processes.
Troubleshoot and maintain automation infrastructure.
Create and maintain documentation for automation processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation need and solutions.
Assess system performance and recommend optimisations.
Perform cost-benefit analyses to justify automation investments.
Generate reports on automation project performance and results.
Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Integrate automation systems with other systems or analytical tools.
Provide maintenance and production technical support.
