Job summary

Time Personnel in Germiston is seeking a Production Drawings Technician with strong AutoCAD skills to translate briefs into practical signage drawings. You will produce detailed 2D/3D drawings, review designs for manufacturability and cost, and collaborate with Project Managers and production teams.

The role requires hands-on drafting ability, material knowledge, and the capacity to manage multiple projects with accuracy and a practical mindset.

Qualifications

• Matric, or equivalent qualification.
• Strong AutoCAD drafting skills producing accurate technical drawings.
• Ability to understand technical drawings, dimensions and specifications.
• Good understanding of material behavior and suitable applications.
• Experience with material take-offs and job costing.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and practical thinking skills.
• Ability to interpret a brief and develop workable solutions independently.
• Good communication with project managers, production teams, suppliers and installers.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Receive briefs from Project Managers and translate into practical signage solutions.
• Produce accurate 2D/3D drawings and production-ready layouts in AutoCAD.
• Review designs and advise on construction, materials, finishes, and manufacturing methods.
• Develop signage solutions that are visually appropriate and manufacturable.
• Understand signage materials (aluminium, acrylic, PVC, vinyl, steel, LED components).
• Determine materials and manufacturing processes for each project.
• Prepare cutting lists, material requirements and production information.
• Liaise with Project Managers to confirm specifications and deadlines.
• Work with production staff to ensure drawings can be manufactured accurately.
• Identify challenges early and recommend solutions.
• Assist with accurate job costing (materials, labour, outsourced services).
• Check drawings for accuracy to minimise errors and wastage.
