Job summary

Valterra Platinum Limited's Tumela 15 East Mine in Thabazimbi, South Africa, is seeking an Auto Electrician to provide specialised electrical maintenance for excavating equipment. You will work under the Engineering Supervisor, ensuring safe, compliant operation, planning tasks, maintaining low voltage systems, and contributing to continuous improvements.

The role requires a Trade Test Auto Electrician, Grade 12, and at least 3 years' underground trackless equipment experience, with code 08

Qualifications

• Certified Competent as Auto Electrician.
• Grade 12.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience post Trade Test, preferably on underground trackless mobile equipment.
• Passed Maintenance Modules on underground trackless mobile equipment.
• Valid driving licence code 08.

Responsibilities

• Maintain low voltage electrical components on excavating equipment.
• Prepare and plan work priority list and resource requirements.
• Ensure resources are communicated to the Engineering Foreman to complete work orders.
• Inform the Supervisor when work is being conducted in the area of responsibility.
• Assist the Safety Officer in completing safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports.

Job Description

The Auto Electrician provides a specialized engineering technical service to the Engineering Supervisor by maintaining all low voltage electrical components on excavating equipment.

Roles and responsibilities include the below:

• Obtain daily and weekly work instructions from the Engineering Foreman
• Prepare and plan work priority list and resource requirements in order to complete tasks
• Ensure that all resources requirements are communicated to the Engineering Foreman in order to complete allocated work orders
• Inform the relevant Supervisor when work is being conducted in the area of responsibility
• Assist the Safety Officer in completing safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports for area
• Ensure that technical data is accurate
• Complete requisitions for stock items required
• Ensure that all planned maintenance schedules and work orders are accurately completed
• Ensure that all work conducted is performed to the required standards and specifications
• Ensure that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed
• Identify opportunities to improve operations
• Participation in improvement projects
• Support efforts to overcome operational problems
• Identify risks and threats to the process proactively

The role is at a C2 level reporting to the Foreman.

Qualifications

• Certified Competent as Auto Electrician
• Grade 12

Experience

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience post Trade Test preferably on underground trackless mobile equipment

Knowledge and Skills

• Passed Maintenance Modules on all underground trackless mobile equipment
• Valid driving licence code 08
