Job summary

Valterra Platinum Limited in South Africa is seeking a Shift Supervisor Mining to oversee planning, coordination and safe production in a key underground section. You will lead a team, ensure compliance with safety and design standards, and manage materials and payroll-related matters.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in a similar underground role, a Blasting Certificate, and valid Competent A & B qualifications.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Blasting certificate required.
• Certified Competent A & B.
• Minimum 5 years Shift Supervisor experience in a conventional underground mine.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, lead and control resources in the mining section for safe, optimal production.
• Maintain site Shift Supervisor logbook and comply with safety requirements.
• Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with mine design, plans and payroll matters.
• Order materials and manage equipment to prevent wastage.
• Monitor time, attendance and disciplinary processes.

Job Description

Come and join this dedicated team as our Shift Supervisor Mining. The Shift Supervisor Mining will be responsible for planning, coordinating, leading and controlling resources within the specific mining section to ensure safe and optimum production of the specific section within the shaft.

• Daily adherence to the completion of the site-specific Shift Supervisor’s logbook appointed for the area of responsibility (Legal Document).
• Comply with organisational and legislation safety requirements by maintaining appropriate practices, standards and procedures.
• Conducting accident and incident investigations and implement the necessary precautions to avoid re-occurrence.
• Ensure that the Miner/s he is responsible for complies with mine design and practices according to the mining cycle.
• Order materials, equipments and ensure that there is no wastage of material.
• Monitor and ensure Time and Attendance and relevant payroll matters are handled.
• Ensure effective discipline and compliance with the Company disciplinary code.
• Adhered to daily, weekly and monthly plan.

Qualifications

• Certified Competent A & B

Experience

• At least 5 years Shift Supervisor experience in the Conventional underground mine.
