Job summary

Scania Nederland B.V. is seeking an Auto Electrician to diagnose, calibrate, and repair electronic control systems on Scania vehicles using PC diagnostics. The role focuses on non-intermittent faults and requires careful attention to safety and quality workmanship.

The successful candidate will perform repairs on engines, gear boxes, brakes, and electrical systems, install equipment, and support customers with technical guidance while maintaining accurate service documentation.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate or equivalent is required.
• 5 years’ experience in the heavy commercial industry working on bus and truck as an electrician.
• Heavy Vehicle licence required.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Independently carry out repairs, calibrations and troubleshooting on Scania vehicles' electronic control systems and electrical components using PC diagnostics with emphasis on non-intermittent faults.
• Diagnose, analyse and rectify faults across engines, gear boxes, braking systems, pneumatics and electrical components.
• Install and set up electrically operated equipment and accessories on vehicles.
• Attend to disabled vehicles as part of Scania Assistance as required, following safety protocols.
• Provide technical advice to customers and colleagues and ensure accurate service sheets and job cards.

Auto Electrician is responsible for using service information at a level corresponding to existing Scania vehicles electronic control systems and carrying out calibrations and troubleshooting on these electronic control systems using PC diagnostics with an emphasis on non-intermittent faults.

Job Responsibilities

• Independently carry out repairs, calibrations and troubleshooting on Scania vehicles electronic control systems and electrical components using PC diagnostics with an emphasis on non-intermittent faults
• Diagnose, analyse and rectify all types of faults, including engines, gear boxes and retarders, brakes systems, pneumatic and electric components
• Diagnose, check and set the mechanical system
• Repairs or replaces defective wiring
• Install electrically operated equipment and accessories
• Set up accessories and specific equipment on the vehicles
• As required, attend to disabled vehicles at the roadside or on customer’s premises as part of Scania Assistance, following appropriate routines and procedures including roadside safety laws and regulations
• Provide technical advice to customers and colleagues
• Ensure all job cards and service sheets are completed correctly
• Understand and work according to parts ordering procedures
• Maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge of products and attend training courses
• Use and apply knowledge, training, technical and personal skills to carry out work allocated
• Ensure that customer requirements and expectations are met, through the provision of quality workmanship
• Comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness, ensuring the workshop and common areas are kept clean and are in order

Applicant must meet these minimum requirements:
