Job summary

University of Fort Hare is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for the Somerset Mall store in Somerset West. You will support daily store operations, lead a frontline team, and drive sales while maintaining an engaging environment for customers and staff.

You will work with POS systems and merchandising standards, act as Manager on Duty when needed, and help optimise KPIs through people management and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience in a busy retail environment.
• Strong organisational and people-management skills.
• Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Technically competent with POS systems and Excel.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in daily operations.
• Lead, motivate, and coach team members to achieve sales targets.
• Assist with staff management.
• Oversee stock control, merchandising, and visual presentation.
• Act as Manager on Duty when required, ensuring smooth operations.
