Craven Cottage CC in Rustenburg, North West, seeks a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to manage daily estate maintenance and conduct plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general repairs. You will supervise the maintenance team, allocate tasks, monitor quality and keep records; assist with water systems, pools and infrastructure, and coordinate with contractors.

Assist the Maintenance Manager with the day-to-day management of all maintenance activities across the Estate.
Carry out general maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance.
Attend to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, tiling, building, mechanical and general maintenance requirements where competent to do so.
Identify faults and maintenance requirements before they become major problems.
Assist with repairs to guest rooms, chalets, offices, public areas, staff facilities and operational buildings.
Maintain and repair doors, locks, windows, fixtures, fittings and furniture.
Assist with water systems, pumps, geysers, tanks and related infrastructure.
Assist with maintenance of swimming pools, water features and recreational facilities where required.
Attend to urgent breakdowns and maintenance emergencies.
Ensure maintenance work is completed properly, safely and within reasonable timeframes.
Assist in supervising and coordinating the Maintenance Department.
Allocate daily tasks to maintenance staff and ensure work is completed.
Lead by example and be willing to work alongside the maintenance team.
Monitor the quality and progress of maintenance work.
Assist with managing staff attendance, punctuality and productivity.
Provide guidance and practical assistance to team members.
Encourage a positive, cooperative and accountable working environment.
Report performance, disciplinary or operational concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
Assist with implementing and maintaining a preventative maintenance programme.
Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, facilities and infrastructure.
Identify potential maintenance issues and recommend corrective action.
Ensure maintenance schedules are followed.
Keep records of completed maintenance and outstanding work.
Assist in maintaining an up-to-date maintenance job card/work order system.
Due to the size and nature of the Estate, the successful candidate must be comfortable working throughout the property and assisting with a wide variety of maintenance requirements.
This may include:
Assist with controlling maintenance tools, equipment and consumables.
Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly.
Monitor maintenance stock levels.
Inform the Maintenance Manager when materials or spare parts are required.
Assist with preventing unnecessary wastage, damage or loss of tools and materials.
Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and responsibly.
Assist the Maintenance Manager in supervising contractors working on the property.
Ensure contractors follow Estate rules and safety requirements.
Monitor the quality of contractor work.
Assist with obtaining quotations and sourcing materials where required.
Build and maintain good working relationships with reliable suppliers and service providers.
Respond promptly to maintenance issues affecting guests.
Assist with urgent guest-room maintenance requirements.
Ensure maintenance issues are handled professionally and with minimal disruption to guests.
Understand that maintenance directly affects the guest experience and reputation of the Estate.
Communicate professionally with management, staff, guests and contractors.
Hospitality operations continue outside normal office hours. The successful candidate must therefore be prepared to:
Remain calm and solution-focused during emergencies.
A trade qualification or formal technical qualification
Previous experience in a maintenance position.
Experience working with and/or supervising a maintenance team.
Good practical knowledge of general property maintenance.
Ability to perform hands-on maintenance work.
Experience in a hospitality, hotel, lodge, resort, estate, commercial property or similar environment would be highly advantageous.
Ability to troubleshoot and identify maintenance problems.
Valid driver's licence.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Willingness to live on the property.
Willingness to be on call when required.
